Maybe you’ll get lucky…

So I spent last weekend in Vegas supporting a friend of mine who was playing in the World Series of Poker.

$1000 bucks to buy in and you get to battle against thousands of others chics, including Jennifer Tilly, Camryn Manheim, Kathy Najimy, and Cheryl Hines.

After only about 15 minutes of play, people started dropping.

You had to pay how much to do this and you’re not good enough to last 30 minutes?!

But that’s how that shit works, man. I don’t think I could handle playing or participating in something where you have NO control over your success. You could be the best player in the world and get shit for cards and you’re done. Why would anybody want to do this?

But, then I guess that’s pretty much how everything is. Yes, you have the ability to prepare yourself to succeed, and teach yourself the discipline and resilency to stick with your area of interest, but in reality you are only going to make it with the help of luck.

I know there are thousands of talented others trying to be paid for their screenwriting. All I can do is put in work, improve as much as possible, and try to meet the one person who’s going to be inspired by my talents and happen to be in a position to do something about it.

As the wise Eminem said, “You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity comes once in a lifetime.” (It is so sad that I know that lyric.)

You went to Vegas to watch a friend in a poker tournament… you realize you have the most fabulous friend? I mean you have me too… you know?

    j/k

    Not a joke:

I think there will be countless people inspired by your talents, not just one.
