Contest countdown… 2 days… oh well
Last year at this time I was really disappointed in myself after I busted my butt and still felt my screenplay was inadequate to submit to a handful of screenwriting contests.
We’re talking tears, the throwing of pillows, an emotional mess.
Well, with only two days until this year’s deadline for those same big contests, I’m in the same position… my project isn’t ready yet.
The thing is though, I’m completely content with it.
Since devoting myself to my writing and spending time every day on it, I see myself improving every day. I’m getting back to enjoying the process of just writing and creating, instead of stressing out about the outcome. My screenplay is getting better and better. It’s not ready, but it will be.
So, I’ve made the conscious decision to just write, just let it happen. Once I finish it and feel like it’s my best effort, then I’ll worry about submitting it to contests, agents, and production companies. Right now I’m just going to have fun and work on getting better and better.
