Keeping it real…

I had previously mentioned my facebook discussion about homosexuality. In that discussion, Sally (my pseudo name for this chic to which I had the discussion with) started off the convo on a lighter side (“I respect your opinion… I don’t judge you… etc…”) and then as we went on, it somehow turned into her casting me off to hell and damnation.

Complete flip in tone, as if the original loving talk was all a front. Hmmm….

Then yesterday morning I realized the same thing happened with Miss California, Carrie Prejean. During the Miss America show, she made her I don’t believe in homo’s getting married statement and then quickly followed it up with her attempt to save political correctness with, “Not to offend anybody.” Side Note: You just think you’re better than people and think you should have the right to rule over others Carrie, no worries, nobody’s offended.

But then yesterday morning on The Today Show, she’s come out to announce that she’s now some anti-gay marriage prophet, even referring to her newfound place as a Christian hero as “meant to be,” and that she’s going to dedicate herself to the fight of “saving marriage.”

I actually respect Sally and Ms. Prejean when they come straight with it. Stop patronizing me with the gentle presentation of your thoughts and instead really tell what you feel. I think you’re stupid either way you play it, but at least I could respect you for keeping it real.

The promotion of political correctness and respecting others has really only resulted in the lacking use of the bullshit filter and thus less real talk. And I’ve fallen into it myself, as in the facebook argument, I made reference to respecting Sally’s opinion. But you know what? I’m done.

Yes, you have the right to think marriage is between only a man and a woman, but you’re still wrong. People can cite scriptures arguing the validity of slavery, but you guess what? They’re wrong. Hey, you are free to believe the world is flat, but that doesn’t keep you from being a complete nimrod and thus… being wrong.

So yes, Carrie Prejean can claim “it’s all about respecting each other” on The Today Show, but let’s keep it real for once Carrie. It’s not.

It’s about Carrie, Sally and anybody else who believes that same-sex marriage is a threat to the health of society being sheltered, ignorant, fearful, selfish, in possession of a superiority complex, and downright WRONG.

So yes, you have the freedom and right to be wrong… but what you believe is still not the truth. Just keeping it real.

oh and the reason Carrie was in the pageant anyways was because of the gay boys out there rooting her on! way to turn your back on your supporters…
