I say we don’t let up… how about you?
2009 May 19
Got an email today from Rick Jacobs, the Chair at Courage Campaign. His organization has been instrumental in the fight for same-sex marriages in California and are already organizing response plans in case the California Supreme Court decides that civil rights is a joke and they uphold Prop 8.
The email was asking for feedback on, if necessary, whether efforts should be planned to return same-sex marriage to the 2010 ballot or wait a little longer for the 2012 ballot. Basically, do you think more time is necessary to remind enough people that we live in the “Home of the Free” United States?
Personally, I think we need to not let up and come right back in 2010. With the upheavel that’s occured over the passing of Prop 8, and the recent controversy with Miss “I think I should have say over how everyone lives their life, no offense” California, I think there are already a good number of people who voted “Yes” on Prop 8 that would vote differently today.
And frankly, I just don’t like the idea of letting everybody go on and live their lives like everything’s cool for another two years when it’s not.
