We need some time apart, laptop…

I felt the need to get out of the house today and refocus solely on my work. So I grabbed my bike helmet and took the two-wheeler to the park, deciding to leave the laptop at home and instead going old school with a notebook and a fancy writing utensil.

Away from any distractions (minus the crackberry, but I put it on silent), I was able to get some quality work in today.

When I get out of the house, I can’t be bothered by the laundry piling up or the slow-cooker crusted with sweet potato soup soaking in the sink from last night. And when I take the Internet out of my hands, it’s mano-a-mano with me and my notebook. I can either write or pick grass.

I think the park trip needs to happen on a regular basis.

I like your story. Sometimes we get so caught up in technology we forget about the basics

Great post. I agree with lisa we spend more time on the net and watching TV it occupies 57% of our days or more.

Why not the laptop? Personally I prefer to write on a computer. I've even got a very nice mindmapping program.

I've got a little e-notebook with at least five hours battery time that's almost a part of me :-)

Thank you all for your comments :) . I am planning on doing it again today.

Desiree – I could bring the laptop.. Like you, I actually prefer to write on it since when I really get in the groove, I can get the words down quicker. I would just need to be away from my email and that would probably work. Now I'd just need to find a shady spot under a tree so I can see the screen… I'll try it today :) .

    Go you!

Would love to do that, only I can't read my own handwriting…lol! AlphaSmart definitely comes in handy–easy to type on, no Internet distractions.
