Do you feel lucky?
Well, do ya’, punk?
So if you remember back a couple of days to my Wednesday post, I mentioned my hope of getting a sneak peek at the set of Clint Eastwood’s new film, Hereafter, featuring Matt Damon while they were in Emeryville.
Well, I did.
After utilizing Inspector Gadget skills and tracking down where exactly they were going to be, I made an appointment for wine tasting at a shop right next door.
When I arrived, I spent some time scoping it out. Trailers, trucks, police. After sitting there a bit and watching the coppers rudely shoo anybody who came close, I figured it was hopeless.
I walked up to a group of cops and film crew conversing, did my best to put on the girly charm and told them I had an appointment at noon with the wine shop. After the one woman in the group (figures) told me there was, “No chance, honey, that’s exactly where they’re filming,” one of the film crew guys checked to see if my name was on the wine appointment list for the day.
And because I had made the appointment earlier, he then proceeded to ESCORT me, through their equipment and into the wine tasting room.
The wine staff wasn’t there yet, so I was waiting when I recognized Bryce Dallas Howard close by and realized she was getting herself into character to enter the scene. Then, I heard yelling and thought, “That sounds like Matt Damon yelling.” It was then it dawned on me that I was right next door to the set.
So… I act like I’m supposed to be there and made my way over. The wine people never ever saw me. The crew thought I was there for wine tasting.
I stood in the corner and watched Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon work for two hours.
At one point Clint Eastwood made eye contact with me and held it for a good five seconds… he always uses the same crew and didn’t recognize me. I nearly crapped my pants… yet as the same time contemplated how bad ass it be to get kicked out by Clint Eastwood.
The coolest moment of the day, however, was when Matt Damon, on his way to the bathroom in between takes, walked by me, looked up, and said, “Hi.”
And to answer the question, yes… I felt pretty damn lucky.
