Catie With A Cee

2010 September 2

A few years ago, I was a physical education teacher and an assistant women’s basketball coach at a junior college.  THE junior college, baby… the best in the world.

Anyway, I met a group of incredible young women during my time there.  One such woman was Catie.  It takes me a little bit to warm up to people, but Catie and I hit it off pretty quickly.  She is the only person I have ever met that I share musical tastes with and because of that, we would always trade new songs, albums, and artists that we came across… jumping up and down and getting all giddy together during the long van rides as we turned off Soulja Boy that was playing on the radio and replaced it with Lauryn Hill.

Catie sent me a text a few days ago that she had uploaded a YouTube video showcasing her debut rapping performance.  Her love of music and writing led her to want to try creating something for herself.

She blew me away with her performance.  Yes, you can tell that she’s somewhat of a beginner, but for her first go, I was ridiculously impressed with her writing and delivery.

The coolest thing, however, is the magic of her creating something.  Instead of spending the evening watching TV, she worked to put together this little diddy, which expresses the importance of living life to the fullest.  It’s entitled, “Love Life Hate Death.”

Live life.  Do you.  Have a great day.

Listening to Nujabes “Reflection Eternal” made me to want to write something inspirational since it’s such a positive vibe beat. I’M NOT A RAPPER NOR AM I TRYING TO BE ONE! So take it easy on me and just listen for the lyrics and not the delivery. Lol. Peace and Love peoples. =)

I LOVE YOU CK! =) Thanks so much for the shout out and sharing my musical endeavor with your world. I miss our music swaps, Haha. And I miss those road trips and putting the rest of the team up on some REAL music and not listening to the garbage out on the radio. Thanks for also helping me grow as a music lover, exposing me to a lot of talents I probably would have never come accross myself. You’re THEE BEST! Peace and Love =)
