First Rewrite Commences

Yesterday evening I dove into rewriting my script. With the contest deadlines looming, the time to clean this bad boy up is now.

My approach is to first make a list of goals that I’m trying to convey in my story. For example, my main character, who is a Princess that’s on the verge of becoming Queen, is clueless, sheltered and unfit to lead, so I need to make sure that those characteristics are conveyed in every scene. 

After I’ve compiled a list of goals, I’m going to take one at a time and move from scene to scene, thinking of how to improve each with that specific goal in mind.

After that I’m going to take one character at a time and make my way through the script, looking at that one character’s dialogue and improving it as necessary.

I love this part of the process. Rewriting is way more fun than laying down a first draft.

I’m going to have the first rewrite finished by April 1st.
