* The nominations for 83rd Academy Awards were announced this morning. It’s pretty much a holiday in my house. This morning my wife and I went through and marked what remaining films we still need to catch… which really is just The King’s Speech. 

* Unfortunately, the exhibit is now gone, but when Pixar was set up at the Oakland Museum, the Zoetrope had me mesmerized for about an hour. You can see it here. 

* Go Into The Story compiles a collection of  Diablo Cody interview responses.

* Talib Kweli released his first indie album, Gutter Rainbows, which is available now (digital only).

* Catch Adele‘s concert that she put on yesterday in London. She performs songs from her upcoming album, 21.

Scott Myers at Go Into The Story posted an excerpt from Stephen King’s article in a 1986 issue of The Writer on the 12 aspects of successful writing.

The New York Times launched an “Awards Season” page on their site, which features numerous articles on films likely to have their name called during upcoming Oscar awards. 

Christy Grosz of The Hollywood Reporter wrote an article on screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and his writing process.  It seems he’s a bit of a note card whore.

I’ve mentioned his work numerous times, and Marc Johns has now incorporated his illustrations into desktop artwork for desktops and for iPads and iPhones.  They’re available for free via Etsy.

… but I promise you it’s a good one.

Video editor Leandro Copperfield took eleven days to re-watch all of Pixar’s eleven films and then put together this seven minute tribute, which he titled, “The Beauty of Pixar”.

* My wife and I are in the early pre-production stages of creating our own short film.  This piece, though random, got me fired up.

* BAFTA released a new video series which features six lectures on screenwriting, lead by writers Aline Brosh, Christopher Hampton, Simon Beaufoy, David Hare, Ronald Harwood, and Peter Morgan.

* Jason Fried discusses why people don’t get anything done while they’re at work (lecture featured on TED).

* Adele gives an acoustic performance of her new single, “Rolling In The Deep”, while in Hollywood recently.

After this week, I may take a much needed break from the internet world to focus solely on knocking out this first draft and hanging out with friends and family.

Since I didn’t compile a collection of links on Tuesday, here are some things that have caught my eyes and ears as of late:

+ It hasn’t been my favorite year for movies, but this edited piece showcasing 270 films that came out over the past year still gets me excited.

+ Who’s read Water for Elephants and is thus excited for the flick?  The trailer was released yesterday.

+ The Madbury Club put together musical compilation, entitled The Ashburn Study, which is “intended to lift your spirits and enable the mind.” It features a wide array of artists, from Mos Def to Miles Davis to Fleetwood Mac.  It’s awesome.

The NY Times released a collection of videos entitled “Fourteen Actors Acting”, which consists of about one minute performances from an array of well known actors.

All of the pieces are silent, which is super cool because they demonstrate how dialogue is only one element of an actor’s performance.

The group of fourteen actors consist of Anthony Mackie, Tilda Swinton, Michael Douglas (who makes me crap my pants), Robert Duvall, Lesley Manville (who rocks it), Vincent Cassel, Naomi Rapace, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Moretz, Jesse Eisenberg, Natalie Portman, James Franco, Javier Bardem…

… and Matt Damon.  Yes, Matt Damon. Go right now.

* Good Neighbor puts together a short film demonstrating how life would be if we couldn’t stop dancing.

* Already sick of the typical Christmas music?  Check out the different sounds of Little Monster’s Studio and their free album, A Very Little Christmas.

* In his response to a reader’s question about making time to write, Scott Myers at Go Into The Story includes Judd Apatow’s technique and an actual email Judd wrote himself on his Blackberry while running around between publicity appointments.  The film idea he emailed to himself that day became Knocked Up.

* Emma Stone reveals her new blonde hair that she’s colored for her role in the upcoming reboot of the, I-could-care-less-and-will-only-watch-because-Emma-Stone’s-in-it film, Spiderman.

* Hype Beast released an interview they did with Phillip T. Annand, the founder of The Madbury Club and Award Tour.  I love him.

* Fur Face Boy released a brand new limited tee this morning, which offers 100% of its proceeds to Locks of Love.

So, without further ado…

* It’s true that I automatically love anything that Mark Wahlberg is associated with, but this third trailer for his upcoming film, The Fighter, looks legitimately good.

* Levi Maestro put together a video showcasing one of my favorite designers, Benny Gold, who works out of San Francisco.  These two guys are amongst the most inspiring that I’ve ever come across.

* The trailer for the upcoming documentary on A Tribe Called Quest hit the internet yesterday.  The film is entitled by Beats, Rhymes, and Fights and is directed by Michael Rapaport.  OH HELL YES!  It still makes me want to cry that these guys fell out of  friendship, and I will always love them.

* If you’re a screenwriter that spends any time on the internet, I’m sure you’ve heard about PJ McIlvaine being sued by Twentieth Century Fox for $15 million buckaroos in damages for distributing screenplays online.  I personally think it’s ridiculous, but the way that the online screenwriting world is reacting is pretty crazy.  Maybe we should stop spending time crapping on each other and instead use it to focus on improving our craft, eh?
