This morning I’m spending an hour to lay out my game plan for the next two months so that I finish 2011 strong. There are a number of things I plan on accomplishing. Taking time to plan out my journey ensures that I’m efficiently applying my time to my goals everyday, and to be honest, doing so is going to make me feel better.
At a time when my “day job” has taken a bit of a blow and I’m perhaps questioning my self-worth and feeling a bit like a moocher (at times imagining myself as Jason Segal in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, laying on the couch and never getting out of my sweats), I need to charge my batteries, if you will.
Enough emo-talk. I’m here to discuss what I am thankful for this week, which includes:
+ Having the opportunity to attend the Austin Film Festival & Conference
+ Getting to come home from Austin and return to my wife, kitty cat and friends
+ Sharing coffee and coffee cake with local photographer and filmmaker, Thomas Broening. Check out his latest short, “Frankenstein’s Dog.”
+ Oakland’s Goapele released a really great album. Stream it here.
+ We ate at home all week. Yay to saving money and eating better.
+ After a five month hiatus, writer and cartoonist Allie Brosch returned with a brutally honest and hilarious post about the reason behind her disappearance. This woman is one of my favorite writers.
+ More than halfway through re-reading Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.”
Hope you all have a great weekend. I’ll see you Monday!
